Aegina Greek Islands Saronic Greece

Aegina is the second largest island in the Saronic Gulf. Being only a short distance from Piraeus, less than an hour's sail, it is a popular destination for Athenians.

It is an island with a history that played an important role in the course of Ancient and modern Greece with elected political personalities. Here was the first capital of the free Greek state after the revolution of 1821.

Aegina is the capital of the island and is located in the west of the island, amphitheatrically built overlooking the sea. It is characterised by its neoclassical stone houses and horse-drawn buggies, reminders of forgotten eras. Sights to see are: the Temple of Apollo and the Archaeological Museum, with exhibits from the Neolithic to the Classic Period.

The island has a developed tourist business and offers all the modern comforts required for a memorable holiday. There are hotels and rooms to rent in all categories.
