THASSOS > OVERVIEW

The island of Thassos is located opposite to the coast of Eastern Macedonia and belongs to the Prefecture of Kavala. It has a mild climate with cool summers and not particularly cold winters. It has about 13,000 residents on the island.

Thassos combines sea and mountain, organized beaches and isolated bays, cosmopolitan lifestyle and ideal places for relaxation. Picturesque villages reveal themselves one after the other. In Limenas, the island's capital and main port, you can visit the Temple of Poseidon, the impressive walls of the castle, the Gate of Silinos, the arch of Karakala and the Archaeological Museum.

The island is full of little coves with both organized beaches and more isolated bays. Some of them are Chrysi Ammoudia at Skala Panagias, Chrysi Akti at Skala Potamias, Kinira, Paradeisos, Thimonia, Aliki -also described by the locals as island's swimming pool - Psili Ammos and the beautiful beach of Pefkari.
