Museum of Natural History

It is a very important museum in the region having hosted and organised congresses and events, with subjects relating to flora, fauna and ecology. The museum was inaugurated in 1996 and allocates special departments dedicated to the sea and the land. There is also a large, natural aquarium, as well as a splendid collection of 265 shells from the island.

Archaeological Museum of Naxos

Naxos' Archaeological Museum is housed in the old trade School of Iisouites and is now characterized as an historic monument. The Francs built it and it is typical of Naxos' style of the 17th century.

The museum hosts important findings from excavations of the Second World War to the present day. The findings date from the Neolithic to early Christian times (5300BC-5th century AD). Among these exhibits are figurines of Cycladic times made of marble, jewellery, vases etc.

Folklore Museum

Apirantho's Folklore museum is housed in a traditional building with three rooms (kitchen, workshop with a loom and a bedroom) and a yard. From its exhibits (items for domestic use, agricultural tools, apparel and so on) the visitor gets a glimpse of the traditional way of life and traditions.
