Travel Guide Ios Island Cyclades Greece
South west of Chora, Mylopotas beach, the busiest beach on Ios, can get very crowded during summer. The long sandy beach extends for one kilometre and provides sun beds, umbrellas, beach bars, cafes, restaurants and a great variety of sea sports. Its emerald waters are a real delight as is its pure golden sand.
Koumbara is in a beautiful bay at a 30 minute walk north-west of the Ormos port. It is a 300 metres long sandy beach with taverns and rooms for rent nearby. A beach bar is located on the beach and serves refreshing cocktails. Koubara is also a very quiet place, undisturbed by the noise and the large crowds of tourists.
The bay of Agia Theodoti has a beautiful beach with golden sand and crystalline emerald waters. Local taverns serving delicious Greek food and rooms for rent make the day in Agia Theodoti particularly agreeable.
This enchanting bay is divided into five idyllic beaches with golden sand or pebbles, and shallow crystal-clear emerald waters.
The magical beauty of Manganari charms every visitor who has the opportunity to see it. Various water sports, fish taverns and rooms for rent can be found in this fantastic bay.
Gialos is located at a few minutes walk from the port of Ormos, at the end of the road which follows the bay of Gialos. It is a very popular beach, but still less crowded than Mylopotas. Its fine white sand and crystal-clear waters are really enjoyable.
The beach is surrounded by restaurants, cafes and mini markets. Gialos Beach also offers water sports facilities and a beach bar.
The beautiful green valley of Psathi offers two wild beaches, still unspoilt by mass tourism. The two beaches at Psathi have fine golden sand, flat rocks and amazing deep blue waters. Psathi is the ideal place to find peace and tranquility, in a beautiful, wild and almost deserted environment.
