HALKI > OVERVIEW
Halki is one of the smaller islands of the Dodecanese group and is located west of Rhodes. Its name derives from the copper mines that exist on the island.
In recent years it has been nominated as 'the centre of peace and friendship'. Every summer there are organised cultural events and a large number of people gather from all corners of the world.
There is only one settlement on the island, Halki or Imborios, its capital and harbour. It is a traditional settlement built amphitheatrically at the foot of the mountain. Its noble beauty reflects passed glories.
All the beaches on the island are scenic and have crystal clear waters: Pontamou, Ftenagias, Trahias and the Giali. There are isolated beaches in the southern part of the island that can only be accessed by boat.
